Scott Baird is a 1997 graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., and in his sixth year as the head athletic trainer at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Before joining the Hardrockers he was an athletic trainer for the University of Wyoming where he covered both men's rugby and lacrosse. Scott brings much knowledge and experience to SD Mines Athletic Medicine Team. Scott is married to Becky, a physical therapist in Rapid City, for 16 years and has twin girls ---Braedyn and Blakely (age 2)

Derrick is in his second year as an assistant athletic trainer for SD Mines. He is a 2010 graduate of South Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training. While at SDSU Derrick spent his senior year as a student trainer for the football team and helped out in all sports as a junior. Before coming a Hardrocker, Derrick was the head athletic trainer for Douglas High School in Box Elder. Derrick's parents have a chiropractic firm in Rapid City where he also works when not assisting the Hardrocker student athletes. Derrick and his girlfriend Amanda have a baby boy -- Finn (age 1).

Dr. Duchene joined Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in 2004.  He was fellowship trained in Sports Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.  Along with his special interest in sports medicine, he also has an interest in joint replacement of the shoulder, hip, and knee.  He also provides care in the areas of trauma and general orthopedics.
Along with providing sports medicine coverage to area high schools, Dr. Duchene serves as the team orthopedic physician for the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. Dr. Duchene has conducted orthopedic research and teaching, is a published author, and has presented at national physician's meetings and conferences. Dr. Duchene is a South Dakota native.  He and his wife enjoy western South Dakota where there is a small town feel with the amenities of a larger community.
